It’s like having another family here and it’s worth getting up in the morning for.

I have suffered with MS for 16 years. I used to work as a nurse in a nursing home but having MS means I can’t walk far, I forget things and suffer from fatigue and numbness. I used to have mini strokes where I’d forget things, and didn’t realise what it was until I was diagnosed.

I started working at ARTHOUSE about 6 years ago as both an artist and a volunteer. Before I had ARTHOUSE I was stuck at home as a mum and wife. A social worker asked what my interests were and I said art and that’s how it all started. It’s the best thing I have ever done! It’s like having another family here and it’s worth getting up in the morning for. For me the best thing about being here is being with the other residents and it makes you realise there are people worse off than you.

I’m so proud to be part of ARTHOUSE and have learnt so much through coming here. It’s great being a volunteer too as I can tell everyone about ARTHOUSE!
